Labasa set focus on first league title

The Labasa football team are eager to win their first Digicel Premier League title after finishing fifth with 19 points last year.
Team Head Coach Ravneel Pratap says they have never won league but this year, their target is to take the title to Babasiga town.
He said they had a good start in the league last year where they remained unbeaten for seven rounds.
However, he said they will need a strong game plan this year as league will be intense with 10 teams contending for the title.
"League is the only title we have never and we really want to win the title this year."
"Last year we were very close to winning but then somewhere in the middle we lost the winning strike. So that held us back."
"Yes, we have just started with the training but due to the pandemic and cyclone, we were not able to meet as a team and train. However we are going to begin with our team training proper from next week."
"Again it won't be an easy year for any team because this year 10 team will be competing and every team will want to get their hands on the title."
"The competition will be exciting with Nasinu and Tailevu Naitasiri in but we will have to make sure that we create our own path and we secure wins."
"We will take each game at a time as it comes and avoid rushing into anything. Whenever we have rushed, we have seen mistakes in the past and that’s something we really want to prevent."
Meanwhile, Fiji Football Association is making arrangements where Labasa football team could come and play their games in Viti Levu.
