Young Solomon Islander Barrie Limoki has started to slowly achieve his target after scoring a goal on his debut for Nadi in their 4-2 win against Navua in the opening round of the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT on Sunday.
The Central coast Striker arrived in Fiji a few days prior to the tournament and told FijiLive that he is hungry for more game exposure and goals.
"It seems like I have started taking baby steps towards achieving my aim and that is to win the golden boot award."
"It's a good start for me and also my team."
"For me the first goal didn’t come alone because it was teamwork and it should be dedicated to them."
"My task is to play and get the team to win so that’s what I am always focused on."
"I just focus on playing football and for the rest; I let my feet do the talking on the field," he confidently said.
The 19-year-old Central Coast star said fitness could be a challenge for him but not language barrier as he has gelled nicely in the team.
"My strength is when I have the ball in my court because that’s when I know what the next step will be."
"Right now the challenge for me is my fitness. I think I ran short of breath. I had to be really fast and adapt to how football is played here."
"Maybe I just arrived and attended a few team training sessions but I will have to control my diet also."
"I thought my weight is not letting me take long shorts and is also an obstacle in my speed but I will improve on that."
"It was not easy to communicate with the boys. They speak in Hindi and I-Taukei language which I don't understand but they taught me some important words like run, pass, move, skills."
"These Nadi boys are really awesome to play with because they are always humble and very approachable," he added.
A1 Builders Nadi will face Baker Fresh Lautoka at 7pm on Thursday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
