Daugunu excited to play on home soil

Former Labasa goalkeeper and Australia A winger Filipo Daugunu is excited to play on home soil and is looking forward to the Pacific Nations Cup in Suva this weekend.

Finally returning after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vanua Levu trooper said it is great to take in the sunshine and the environment.

“Coming home is always different, and to be playing on home soil is very exciting,” Daugunu said.

Daugunu, who plys his rugby with top Australian Super Rugby franchise the Reds, is hopeful the home crowd will boost him when Australia A takes on Samoa in their Pacific Nations Cup opener on Saturday.

“It will be a hard game, as well as a strong tournament, Australia is not just here to compete, we are looking forward and are ready to play our first game.”

Australia A vs Samoa match kicks off at 1pm at the HFC Bank Stadium.
