Fiji U20 to face NZ in opener

Fiji opens its campaign in the Oceania Rugby U20 Championship against four times champions New Zealand tomorrow.

Although New Zealand have held the most titles, they head into this year’s tournament as runners up having lost to Australia in 2019.

Fiji has 24 local players in their 29-man squad.

Tevita Boseiwaqa and Tremain Little who play in New Zealand, Stade Francais player Jeniro Wakeham and  Canberra based brothers Luke and Waisea Tudulu are the five overseas based players in the team.

New Zealand also brings a strong balanced side with plenty Super Rugby Pacific experience, with the likes of second-five eigth Riley Higgins who debuted for the Hurricanes against Fijian Drua as a 19 year-old as well as Crusaders fullback Mackay Springer.

The NZ vs Fiji match kicks off at Sunshine Coast Stadium at 7pm.
