We don't expect a perfect start: Cotter

Vodafone Flying Fijians Coach Vern Cotter is not expecting a perfect start to their 2022 Pacific Nations Cup campaign against Tonga in Suva this Saturday.

Cotter said the five times champions are aiming to ensure they get their gameplan right and the players adapt back to their roles.

“We don’t expect it to be perfect, it will be hot and we are playing a physical team,” Cotter said.

“When things become a little bit loose, we want to be able to tighten things up with a good set piece.”

Cotter added that set piece play has been a big focus in their sessions.

“We are careful about structuring our game of lineout and scrum to make sure we have a base.”

The Fiji vs Tonga match kicks off at 3.30pm at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
