Nadroga will keep the coveted INKK Farebrother Challenge trophy for the remainder of this season after beating Rewa 20-10 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka this afternoon.
Rewa entered the field with the aim to snatch the silverware for the first time in 35 years while the young stallions were determined to win and keep the trophy.
Former Fiji 7s stars Jasa Veremalua and Panapasa Qeruqeru were notable inclusions in the Nadroga lineup while Captain Iakobo Bose was the only player in the Rewa squad with Farebrother Challenge experience.
The hosts went up in the seventh minute through the kicking boots of flyhalf Jack Volavola.
22-year-old flanker Joji Kunavula bulldozed his way to score the first try of the match in the 16th minute after some good buildup play by Qeruqeru.
Volavola converted for a 10-0 lead.
Continuous pressure by the Nadroga forward saw the ball beautifully recycled to Qeruqeru who used his power and pace well to score in the corner just before halftime as the Etonia Naba coached side went to the break with a 15-0 lead.
Rewa drew first blood in the second half with a successful penalty from flyhalf Filipe Qoro.
Replacement winger Taniela Rakuro sealed the match for Nadroga with their fourth try in the last quarter of the match and a late try by Rewa fullback Saula Lavetia did not threaten the final outcome.
