Blues look to tighten their defence

Lautoka Coach Shalen Lal admits they were defensively weak in their 2-2 draw in the Digicel Premier League on Sunday against Tailevu Naitasiri.

Lal said they could have won the match had the defensive players executed the game plan well.

“Well we did not expect this result at all.”

“But hats off to Tailevu Naitasiri for such a good performance. They did play really well with 10-men in the second 45 minutes.

“Our main area of concern was our backline. We did not defend.”

“We lacked in that part which forced us to drop two points.

“But going into this week, we need to re-work on that and come out better in the next match.”

“We had a game plan and the team followed that but our defence wasn’t there.”

“We could have won but that’s all part of the game and we just have to focus on the next match.”

Lautoka takes on NZOTC Nasinu at 3pm at Churchill Park on Sunday.
