Positive support for women: Seckold

Netball Australia Head of Market Development Ellie Seckold believes any sport that encourages women and girls participation is positive.

With the recent influx of women in Fiji from traditional sports such as netball to rugby after the acheivements of the Olympic Games bronze medalists the Fijiana 7s and Super W champions the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua, Seckold said womens growing interest regardless of the sport was a push in the right direction.

“It doesn’t matter whether it is netball or rugby, and they both offer very different experiences.

“In the end we are all building women and girls, leadership, team culture and I think it is a positive which ever way you look at it.”

Seckold recently returned to Australia with her team who were in the Fiji as part of the ODA Program funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade provided workshops in leadership to netball associations from around the Pacific.
