Bula Boys bow out in semifinal

The Digicel Bula Boys were beaten in their semifinal clash of the 2022 MSG Prime Minister's Cup 1-0 by Papua New Guinea in Port Villa, Vanuatu today.

A 23rd minute penalty was enough to see  PNG book its spot in the final.

The Fijian attack were not without their chances with Captain Roy Krishna leading the charge.

The PNG defence proved relentless throughout foiling Fiji's few chances.

Both Setareki Hughes and Christopher Wasasala's combined efforts were not enough to change the tide.

This is the second time PNG has beaten Fiji this year as the Flemming Serritslev coached side also fell short 2-1 during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Qatar in March.

The starting teams:

Papua New Guinea- Ronald Warisan, Daniel Joe, Alwin Komolong, Ferdahlas Namuesh, Ati Kepo, Raymond Gunemba, Nigel Dabinyaba, Kolu Kepo, Yagi Yasasa, Emmanuel Simon, Pala Paul.

Fiji- Akuila Mateisuva, Praneel Naidu, Muni Shivam, Remueru Tekiate, Setareki Hughes, Roy Krishna, Christopher Wasasala, Gabriele Matanisiga, Patrick Joseph, Simione Nabenu, Sitiveni Cavuilagi.
