Rakiraki wins Primary Schools IDC

Rakiraki claimed the 45th Fiji Primary Schools Football Association (FPSFA) Inter District Championship title after beating Nadi 4-3 in penalties at Garvey Park in Tavua on Friday.

The tough and tensed final saw both teams levelled 1-1 at the conclusion of normal and extra time and the winner had to be decided through spot kicks.

The surprise package from Northern Viti Levu created upsets throughout the tournament and sent favorites Rewa out in the semifinals after a brace of goals from Isimeli Eparama.

Nadi on the other hand defeated neighbours Lautoka 1-0 via an Aminiasi Nava goal.

Rakiraki received $800 and the winners’ trophy from sponsors Digicel and Ram’s Cleaning Services, Nadi earned $400 for reaching the final while Rewa and Lautoka each received $150.

In the quarterfinals, Nadi thumped Navua 3-0,  Lautoka overcame Nadroga 2-0, Rewa had a tough 2-1 win over Seaqaqa and Rakiraki edged Nasinu 1-0.
