Taveuni aims for consistency in IDC

The Taveuni football team is looking to give a consistent performance in the Senior Division of the Courts Inter District Championship next week in Suva.
Head Coach Praneel Nand said in order for them to win the IDC title this year; the side will need to match the speed and consistency of Dreketi and Northland Tailevu.
"We haven’t won the IDC for 10 years so this year, it’s big for us."
"The team really wants to win IDC and dedicate it to the people because we have gone through a very hard time during the pandemic."
"We played Dreketi this year and drew with them and also defeated them in the second game."
"Northland will be a tough team to beat because most of their players are playing futsal. They are really fast but we just need to match their speed and be consistent with our performance."
Nand further highlighted that this will be the first time for the side to only include Taveuni province players in the team.
"This will be the last IDC for most of our players as they will be reaching 40 or over next year. And they want to end this year with a victory. So it’s a big tournament for the players also."
"All our players are from Taveuni. No outside players have been included."
"We have a strong squad with experienced players like Amit Kanhaiya, Mohammed Ifran, Shalfaraax Buksh and Samuela Kiniboi."
"These boys have played in the Premier division and the young ones are banking on their experience."
Taveuni will kick off their Senior Division IDC campaign against Dreketi at 3 pm on Thursday and face Northland Tailevu at 2pm on Friday at Bidesi Park in Suva.
