Nadroga holds Nadi in IDC opener

Nadroga came from behind to hold a star-studded Nadi outfit to a 1-1 draw in the opening Super Premier match of the 2022 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today.

The Viliame Toma coached All in One Builders Nadi looked good in the first half and launched a couple of good attacks through Solomon Islanders Barrie Limoki and William Komasi, Samuela Kautoga and James Hoyt, but the alertness of Sakeo Taganeca in goal denied them.

Safe Logistics Nadroga Coach Joseph Nand made an early change and replaced Taniela Raubula with KalavetI Sivoi in midfield.

Limoki managed to sneak in with the opening goal in the 40th minute after Nadroga's central defenders failed to clear the ball on time.

The Jetsetters enjoyed the lead at halftime but a more organised and determined Nadroga side turned the tables around in the second half and made a couple of good attempts.

Replacement striker Vilitati Kautoga proved dangerous upfront and set up the equaliser for Captain Tomasi Tuicakau who made no mistake with his powerful attempt, giving goalkeeper Samuela Tamanisau no chance at all in the 71st minute.

Both teams sent in reinforcements in the last 10 minutes of the clash with the hope of finding the winner.

Leisari Qalica and Semesa Sacere took the field for the Stallions while Andrew Naicker, Eneriko Matau and Jaygray Sipakana replaced Kautoga, Captain Rahul Krishna and Limoki for Nadi.
