Rewa books spot in IDC semis

Rewa has booked its spot in the semifinals of the 2022 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) after beating Lautoka 2-1 in their final Group B match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today.

The Marika Rodu coached side progresses to the last four with five points after draws against Labasa and Ba and today’s win over the Blues.

Solomon Islander Atkin Kaua and Ivan Kumar missed two good scoring chances in the opening minutes before Abbu Zahid opened Rewa’s account in the 15th minute.

Rewa’s celebration was cut-short ten minutes later when a Zibraaz Sahib attempt was spilled by goalkeeper Epeli Loaniceva.
Kaua used his sheer speed to find himself in space and connected with a through pass from midfield to put the Delta Tigers into the lead.

Lautoka toiled hard in the second spell in search of the equalizer but Rewa’s defence held their own against attackers like Sakaraia Naisua, Aporosa Yada and Saula Waqa.

With Sharam Hangers Rewa already in the semis, the other team from Group B will be confirmed after the last match between defending champions Labasa and Ba at 6pm.

The teams:
