Rewa holds champs Labasa in D1 of IDC

Defending champion Labasa was held to a goal-less draw by Rewa  in the feature Day 1 fixture of the 2022 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva tonight.

Both teams fielded their best lineups in the encounter but could not find a goal as the slippery conditions at the Laucala oval somewhat affected play and forced players to opt for high balls on most occasions.

National striker Christopher Wasasala sneaked in with a couple of shots on goal but was taken good care of by lanky goalkeeper Epeli Loaniceva.

Veteran Simione Tamanisau also pulled off some good saves in both halves.

Sharam Hangers Rewa fielded Solomon Islanders Atkin Kaua and Alvin Hou in their starting lineup while London based Fiji U19 defender Peter Ravitisai was introduced at the commencement of the second half.

Labasa on the other hand fielded the same lineup which won the Battle of the Giants in Lautoka.

With the result, RC Manubhai Ba takes the lead in Group B with 3 points, Rewa and Labasa have a point each while Lautoka sits at the bottom of the table.

Rewa will meet Ba at 5pm tomorrow while Labasa will come up against Lautoka at 7pm.
