Suva thumps Nadro, registers first win

Host Suva bounced back to winning ways and thumped Nadroga 4-0 in their second Group A match of the 2022 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) at the HFC Bank Stadium today.
The return of top marksman Azariah Soromon from Vanuatu boosted Suva's chances entering into the match.
A foul on midfielder Ravnesh Singh in the 4th minute allowed Soromon to open Suva's account from the penalty spot.
Soromon turned the provider of the second goal eight minute later through a well curled corner kick which was headed into the roof of the net by defender Simione Nabenu.
Nadroga had a fine chance to come back through Gahanian Ato Yankson in the 26th minute but national goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva punched the ball away.
The Stallions coach Joseph Nand made early substitutions in the second half with Semesa Sacere, Zain Ali, Taniela Raubula and Mitieli Naiviro replacing Abudul Farid, Vilitati Kautoga, Romit Narayan and Paulo Buke.
Suva maintained its possession and a free kick from Soromon which the Nadroga defence failed to clear resulted in Remueru Tekiate claiming the third goal in the 59th minute.
Coach Babs Khan made some tactical changes by adding the fresh legs of Inoke Turagalailai, Waisake Navunigasau, Ronaldo Wilkins and Peniasi Rotidara in place of Marlon Tahioa, Singh, Samuela Drudru and Soromon.
A setup from Tekiate saw replacement Rotidara take a powerful shot which gave no chance whatsoever to Nadroga goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca in the 80th minute.
