Tavua has shifted its focus to the next match of the 2022 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) against Nadogo on Friday after settiling for a 0-0 draw against Tailevu Naitasiri in its opening match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today.
Head Coach Mohammed Ashif Khan said the side will take the draw as a positive start-off although the aim was to win the first match.
"We have a very young side with a few experienced players while Tailevu Naitasiri was strong. They survived in the league and maintained that same level of performance."
"We came here for a win but we couldn’t get the result we wanted. But it’s not a bad start. I think the players gave their best."
"Next is Nadogo and whatever happens here we will leave it here."
"We are focused on Nadogo. We are not going to take them lightly. We haven’t played them for a while."
The Kamil Muslim College teacher said they will need to better their finishing and attacking.
"Again we are not underestimating Nadogo. We have to improve on a lot of things. The team goes for recovery and we will plan something out in the afternoon."
"I think we missed some crucial goals which we could have scored. And that tells us that our finishing needs to improve and also we were behind in our attacking."
"We were slow in our attacks and that gave more possession to Naitasiri and that’s something we need to avoid against Nadogo."
"We have a break tomorrow and will improve on our weaknesses. I’m sure the break will help us a lot," he added.
Tavua will play Nadogo at 10am.
