Young Ba brigade outclasses Lautoka

A young Ba brigade recorded the biggest upset on Day 1 of the 2022 Courts Inter District Championship in Suva today, outclassing a more experienced and superior Lautoka outfit 3-0.
Fiji U19 star Nabil Begg was the architect for all of Ba's two goals and put on a stellar performance throughout the match.
An injury to Kini Madigi saw the introduction of Fiji U19 striker Faazil Ali, and the speedster made an instant impact by slamming the ball into the back of the net and opening Ba's account in the 33rd minute with a beautiful floated Begg cross.
The Men in Black stunned Lautoka with their second goal just four minutes later as Luke Savu pounced on Begg through pass to blast the ball past a hapless looking Joela Biuvanua.
Lautoka tried to make a comeback in the game through stylish defender Antonio Tuivuna and lanky marksman Saula Waqa but goalkeeper Tevita Koroi kept failing their plan.
Lautoka coach Kamal Swamy added the fresh legs of Junior Dekedeke, Sakaraia Naisua, Edward Justin and Aporosa Yada in place of Sitiveni Cavuilagi, Gulam Razool, Saula Waqa and Antonio Tuivuna in the second half to keep the pressure on the Ba defence.
Ba continued with their astonishing performance and Savu threatened again in the 85th minute but his shot went over the crossbar.
In the remaining few minutes of the match, Sumeet Goundar, Malakai Rere and New Zealand import Mohammed Muzakkir-Nabeel took the field in place of Savu, Begg and Peceli Sukabua for Ba.
Deep injury time, a timely cross from Ali saw Rere increase their lead and seal the big victory.
