Defending champion Ba was held to a 1-1 draw by Rewa in their Vodafone Premier League fixture at Ratu Cakobau Park today. The Men In Black went up in the 17th minute after Josateki Tamudu fouled Samuela Nabenia inside the box and gave away a penalty. Captain Saula Waqa blasted the ball into the roof of the net with his attempt to give goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau no chance at all. A mistake by Ba’s central defence in clearing the ball away saw Epeli Saukuru level terms for the Delta Tigers with a powerful low cross. Iosefo Verevou missed two good chances at goal in the second half while upcoming youngster Amena Bola showed good touches and skills upfront for Ba after coming off the bench. Ba goalkeeper Josaia Ratu made two brilliant saves in the dying stages to deny Rewa and force the teams to walk away with 1 point each from the encounter. Rewa now has 10 points on the VPL table after playing six matches while Ba after playing four matches has 7 points. By Reginald Chandar |
