Fiji has qualified for the Cup quarterfinal of Singapore 7s after beating Russia 38-7 in its second match tonight. The Fijians were ruthless from the kickoff and scored four unanswered tries through Kalione Nasoko, Nacanieli Labalaba, Amenoni Nasilasila and Captain Osea Kolinisau to lead 24-0 at halftime. The Russians scored first after the break through Dmitry Sukhun as the Fijians were down by a man after Nasoko was sin-binned for a high tackle. Two further tries from Nasilasila and replacement Waisea Nacuqu saw Fiji collect 78 points from its first two matches of the tournament. Fiji plays Canada in its final pool match at 12.06am tomorrow to determine Pool A winner. Both teams currently have two wins each. By Reginald Chandar |
