Nadi registers third win, beats Ba

Nadi registered its third victory of the season today after beating defending champion Ba 1-0 in the Vodafone Premier League at Prince Charles Park.

The Jetsetters entered the match with more determination and looked eager to make amends after losing 4-2to Lautoka last week.

A new game plan saw lanky marksman Rusiate Matarerega make a positional change and start at right back while debutant Mosese Baleinaqaqa got his break in midfield.

Ba on the other hand took the field without star striker Saula Waqa who so far has netted six goals this season.

Waqa is still nursing an injury while Meli Codro, Malakai Tiwa and Remueru Tekiate also missed out due to suspensions and family commitments.

The hosts had four good chances on goal in the first half but failed to capitalize while Ba took only two shots at goal through Samuela Nabenia and Malakai Rakula.

Nadi applied the pressure after the break and striker Ratu Josefata Dugucagi after hitting the cross-bar in the 60th minute, netted the winner two minutes later after a defensive blunder by Ba.

Nadi now has 10 points after 7 matches while Ba has 7 points after playing 5 matches.

The teams:

Nadi- Vereti Dickson, Ame Votoniu, Mosese Baleinaqaqa, William Valentine, Patrick Joseph (Martin Nasova), Alfraz Ali, Rusiate Matarerega, Napolioni Qasevakatini, Ratu Josefata Dugucagi (Rupeni Raibici), Luke Rawadamu, Elvin Prasad.
