Saweni upsets champs in Sangam IDC opener

Defending champion Nadi suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of last year’s runners up Saweni in the first match of the 2017 Sangam Inter District Championship at Subrail Park in Labasa today.

Former champs with the services of Madhavan Goundar, Sahil Dave, Dinesh Mudaliar, Sandeep Nair, Daniel Dass, Shekar Reddy, Navneel Naicker and Nathan Kumar defeated Rakiraki 2-0 while a star-studded Ba outfit with the likes of goalkeeper Shaneel Naidu, Praneel Naidu, Roneel Kumar, Naren Rao Junior, Johnny Rao and Avinesh Warran Swamy thumped Rifle Range 4-0.

Host Labasa with the services of Krishneel Krishna and Amit Kanhaiya defeated Vitogo 3-1 while Salesh Kumar and Alvin Avinesh’s Hamilton was held to a 1-1 draw by Nicholas Lawrence led Middlemore.
