Fiji loses Paris 7s opener to Samoa

Fiji suffered a 19-17 loss at the hands of defending champs Samoa in its opening match of the Paris 7s tonight.

The Fijians narrowly led 12-7 at halftime with Kalione Nasoko and Sevuloni Mocenacagi scoring the tries while Tomasi Alosio scored for Samoa.

Vatemo Ravouvou scored Fiji’s third try after the break and a failed conversion by Captain Osea Kolinisau saw the Fijians lead 17-7.

Samoa launched a late attacked and scored through Lafaele Tuliu Vaa and Elisapera Alofipo with playmaker Tila Mealoi kicking the winning conversion.

Fiji plays Russia in its next match at 11.26pm (Fiji Time).
