Varman to assess World Cup qualifier

Fiji Football Association’s Referees’ Director Rakesh Varman has been appointed the Match Assessor for today’s World Cup Qualifier between the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea in Honiara.

This is his first FIFA appointment since his retirement as a FIFA referee two years ago.

“This is the highest achievement for me at FIFA level after quitting refereeing and I feel honoured and privileged,” he said.

“This is a stepping stone for me as an Assessor and I hope to continue and maybe if given a chance, then assess some games at World Cup level in the near future as well.”

The match officials for this encounter are all from Australia and Jared Gillett will be the man in the middle.

The World Cup qualifier match kicks off at the Lawson Tama Stadium at 3pm (Local Time) and both teams stand a chance to qualify from their pool to the next stage.
