NZ wins 2018 FANCA World Cup

New Zealand won the 2018 Fiji Australia New Zealand Canada and America (FANCA) Muslim World Cup at Churchill Park last night after beating host nation Fiji 1-0 in the final.

Former national and Ba marksman James Hoyt nailed the winner for the Kiwis in the first half.

Fiji with the likes of Captain Abbu Zahid, Mohammed Shazil Ali, Zibraaz Sahib, Husseini Khan, William Valentine, Afraz Ali and veteran goalkeeper Azmat Begg toiled hard for the equalizer in the second half but excellent goalkeeping by Mohammed Mosif denied them the chances.

New Zealand ended the match with only 10 players after Fauzul Ahmed was sent off following his second booking of the final.

In the semis, Fiji had beat USA 1-0 thanks to a superb strike by nippy Shazil Ali from the near touchline for a rematch against  New Zealand in the final.

New Zealand had also beaten Fiji during the preliminary round by the same score-line.

Meanwhile New Zealand has been chosen as the host of  next World Cup which will be played in mid October of 2020.
