Ba - Lions finish to a nil-all draw

The opening match of the Digicel Premier League between Ba and Labasa ended at nil-all at Subrail Park today.

The two sides kept a strong defence from the start till the last whistle.

Labasa had the opportunity to draw first blood after Ashnil Raju beat two Ba defenders to put Siotame Kubu in the hole but Kubu wasn't on par to finish off the move.

Minutes before the breather, Solomon Islander and Ba striker Darold Kakasi took a powerful shot but Labasa goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva was equal to the challenge.

The Babasiga Lions started to mount attacks on the Ba goal midway into the second spell via Akimi Ralulu and former Nasinu rep Jone Naraba, who took striking shots however, they weren't on target.

The men-in-black also made good attempts in the midfield area through Abu Zahid but the heavy Labasa defence turned the ball away.

In the women’s super league match earlier, Ba women’s defeated hosts Labasa women’s 4-2.
