Players lacked urgency, aggression: Singh

Rewa Coach Roderick Singh says they lacked urgency and could not capitalise on their scoring chances in their 1-0 loss to Suva in the Digicel Premier League on Sunday.

Singh said he did not expect the team to lose the match as they had trained for two months.

“Definitely I did not expect this loss and the boys lacked the urgency, aggression and attacking urge against Suva. We were very predictable in the attacking phase and losing a lot of opportunities. No aggression was shown by the players and we often forget to pressure and utilise the opportunities given to us.”

“Our mistakes saw them taking the opportunities and score the lucky goal. We didn’t make wise decisions and lost a lot of possession and Suva took advantage and positively defended and managed to walk away with the win.”

He mentioned that the team will re-group and map out a new game plan as they will meet Lautoka in the next round.

“This is one of the games that I will remember as we move forward because it was my first loss as a Rewa main team coach but I’d like to achieve more with this team. There are more games left but we will just go back, the boys will recover and we will meet today and plan out the areas we need to improve.”

“We will be playing Lautoka next and it won’t be easy for us especially considering the game we played against Suva.”
“We will need to bring in some changes to our attitude and how we approach the game,” Singh added.
