Ramzan stars as Suva beats Rewa

Rewa import Mohammed Ramzan Khan starred as defending champions Suva overcame the Delta Tigers 1-0 in their opening Digicel Premier League clash at the ANZ Stadium today.

The Whites entered the match without three key players- Filipe Baravilala, Christopher Wasasala and Iosefo Verevou who were dropped in the eleventh hour due to indiscipline.

Striker Mohammed Shazil launched few good attacking moves for Suva early in the match but an injury saw him take an early exit and make away for veteran Meli Codro.

Rewa managed to score via an Anish Khem header in the 26th minute but the goal was disallowed as he was in an off-side position.

A beautiful pass by Merrill Nand in the 31st minute saw Khan blast in a powerful attempt which caught veteran goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau off-guard.

Suva led 1-0 at the break and clung on to the slender lead till the final whistle despite losing Captain Ravnesh Singh to a shin injury.

Unique Rubber Stamp sponsored Suva will play Nadroga in its next match while Rewa will face Lautoka.
