Rewa wants to bounce back

Rewa coach Roderick Singh is hopeful the side will beat Lautoka and bounce back into their winning form in the second round of the Digicel Premier League.

The Delta Tigers had a disappointing start of the DPL where they were defeated by 1-nil against Suva last week.

But Singh said the players will step up and give a next-level performance against the Blues on Sunday.

“Yes, definitely last week was a sad beginning for us but we are going to outclass Lautoka because we will field a strong game plan. Last week things did not work out but that does not deter us from battling against Lautoka.”

The former Rewa rep mentioned the side had been working on their defence which was quite an issue last week.

“We mapped out some areas that caused us the loss and one of them was defence. We have improved on our defending and that is something that will be put to test on Sunday. It’s not always about applying pressure but also trying to make use of the certain skills players have.”

“Lautoka will not be an easy team because they defeated Navua and finishing is something that we will also be considered during the game. Against Suva, we did not utilise our opportunities but this week we want to change things around.”

Rewa will face Lautoka at 4pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
