Tagi to test waters in DPL opener

Lautoka football coach Tagi Vonolagi will field in a mixture of players against Navua in their first Digicel Premier League match tomorrow.

Vonolagi said they want to test their players out and see how the new inclusions create an impact.

“We want to secure our first win and it won’t be easy. We can’t underestimate Navua and we will not take them lightly. Our mistakes can cause us a lot as it will give opportunities to them.”

“We will put a mixed lineup of players and give the players equal game time. Some of the players were put to test during the friendly games but we will incorporate the players to see their skills and capabilities.”

“We will make sure to utilise the opportunities given and play a really smooth game without causing any blunder. We have seen in the past that small mistakes cause chaos but we will take each step at a time.”

The inclusions are Nadi defender Alfraz Ali, Suva striker Sairusi Nalaubu, national team goalkeeper Benaminio Mateiniqara and national under 20 goalkeeper Misiwane Nairube.

The Lautoka vs Navua match kicks off at 3pm after the official opening of the Digicel Premier League at 2.30 pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
