Reece treble not enough for Crusaders

Fiji-born winger Sevu Reece scored three tries as the Crusaders thumped Melbourne Rebels 52-26 in their Super Rugby Trans-Tasman clash on Saturday but the win was not enough to see the traditional champions qualify for the final.

The Crusaders needed to win the clash by 33 clear points pick up a bonus point to overtake the Highlanders on points differential.

Reece and George Bower started for the Crusaders while Manasa Mataele was on the bench while the Rebels had Marika Koroibete, Isi Naisarani and Frank Lomani in the starting XV and former Fiji U20 rep Ilikena Vudogo was in their reserves.
