Remain in your own bubble, O'Connor urges

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive John O'Connor is urging all players around the country to remain in their own bubbles and do personal training to stay fit.

O'Connor said rugby matches in the country will not recommence any time soon as they will wait things to normalise and will only have games once the greenlight is given by the authorities.

“We still have COVID-19 pandemic looming over our head and it’s not wise to resume rugby competitions locally any time soon. We do have some plans lined up but first we need the country to be safe so that the virus does not spread.”

“Again we don’t want to risk the lives of our players and officials and it is also important to understand that when we will have the competitions running then people will want to go to the grounds, so in order to protect everyone, we suggest that competitions will resume at a later date.”

Meanwhile the local based Flying Fijians are training in their own bubble and are expected to depart for New Zealand following the team naming by Coach Vern Cotter in the coming weeks.
