Fiji can defend gold medal: Ryan

Olympic Gold winning coach Ben Ryan believes Fiji has the discipline, defence and fitness to defend its title at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which gets underway next week.

Ryan in a post on Twitter said the Fijian players have the skills and physique.

"They can defend their title with the right attitude and discipline.”

He also added that Coach Gareth Baber must have mapped up a good plan to defend the gold medal and having the best available players will make the job a little easier.

Fiji will begin its campaign against  host Japan at 12.30pm on Moday before taking on Canada at 8pm.

The Jerry Tuwai coached side will then face Great Britain at 2.30pm on Tuesday.
