Rising star Mark Nawaqanitawase who shares links with Fiji will stay with the Waratahs for another two years as he looks to cement his spot in the starting side.
Nawaqanitawase told Rugby.com.au that he wants to gain more experience with the side although the Tahs could not achieve their Super Rugby AU high ranking.
He said this is a great opportunity for his to stay with the club and gain experience while he wants to explore more of his talent with the team.
“Look there’s no sugar coating it, we’ve had a rough 12 months, but I genuinely believe there’s something special building here,” Nawaqanitawase said.
“We were a pretty inexperienced team at the start of this year and due to our massive injury toll, a lot of guys got exposure to high level footy which will make us better placed for next year, including myself.”
“There’s a lot of work getting put in right now and I think a change is coming. We’re incredibly motivated to turn things around and win for NSW.”
“I love this team, it’s a great bunch of guys so it was a really easy decision to extend my time here,” he added.
Meanwhile, Waratahs backs Alex Newsome has also re-signed with the team.
Newsome, who stepped up as captain in the absence of Michael Hooper and Jake Gordon throughout Super Rugby AU, has signed a one-year extension that will keep him in NSW until the end of 2022.
