Fiji's campaign remains on track

Fiji has kept its gold medal defence campaign in the Tokyo Olympics on track after beating Canada 28-14 in its second match tonight.

The Gareth Baber coached side scored early in the match through playmaker Napolioni Bolaca who picked the ball from a scrum and sprinted away to score between the sticks and successfully converted his own try.

Winger Jiuta Wainiqolo doubled Fiji's lead two minutes later as he took a quick tap from a penalty, broke two tackles and raced to the try-line.

Canada scored just before halftime through Captain Nathan Hirayama who also converted to narrow the scores to 14-7.

Aminiasi Tuimaba combined well with Captain Jerry Tuwai to score Fiji's third try but Canada continued to pose a threat and scored another converted try through Justin Douglas.

With less than a minute remaining, Semi Radradra set up replacement Asaeli Tuivuaka to score Fiji's fourth and final try of the match.

Fiji has two wins from two matches and will play its final pool match against Great Britain at 12.30pm tomorrow.
