Baber interested in returning to Fiji

Fiji's Olympic gold medal-winning coach Gareth Baber says he is in talks with the Fiji Rugby Union and is looking at the opportunity where he could come back to Fiji.

Baber in an interview with the Fiji Rugby Union media last night said he is in contact with FRU.

“I have been speaking to the FRU as well. Obviously, I’m looking for the opportunity when I could come back to Fiji.

And hopefully, some of the announcements with the Fiji Airways, potential quarantine, opening up that avenue for me to come back because Fiji is like a second home to me. It would be lovely to get that opportunity.”

But the Welsh man is back at home in Wales and is adjusting well with his wife and kids after being away from them for seven months.

“I’m doing well. It's fantastic to be back with my family after being a time away from them. So getting to know each other again and living in a house together again has been quite strange.”

“Probably more strange for my kids dealing with me. But it’s roughly been a month since I left my brothers and sisters in Tokyo and it's very strange not to be with them.”

“We spent so much time together and you go through so many events and episodes together, sharing a bond. Yes, I’m still in touch on messenger on the likes,” he added.
