Full vax opens door to sports: Bala

Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala has confirmed that contact sporting activities will only resume if athletes, fans are fully vaccinated.

The minister while launching the framework for the resumption of sports and recreational activities in the country today said the sporting bodies need to ensure that safety protocols are being followed while the activities take place.

Bala said contact sports athletes, administrators and spectators need to be fully vaccinated in order to stay protected while the date to resume the activities has not been given.

He said the framework is set up to resume sports in the country and people must ensure they live with the new protocols and play their part.

Bala also highlighted the need for all sporting organisations to have their 2020 Fiji Safe Sports certification.

The framework protocols is:

-Sports activities conducted need to maintain two meters distance.

-Activities cannot be conducted with more than 10 athletes.

-Permission will be granted to share equipment within the training and playing zones.
