Lal, Kumar receive OFC Senior B License

Two local coaches Sunil Kumar and former Labasa coach Ronil Lal have successfully attained the Oceania Football Confederation Senior B License today.

Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) President Rajesh Patel said it’s a great achievement for the duo as both are head coaches of our age-group national teams.

Kumar is the head coach of the Fiji U16 team as well as the national assistant coach while Lal is the Fiji U19 head coach.

“Both Ronil and Sunil have made Fiji proud in this Oceania coaching arena and I congratulate them for a job well done.”

“They are both in our national coaching panel, ready to take on the upcoming U16 and U19 qualifiers next year and we are looking forward to their services,” Patel said.

The duo thanked Fiji FA for having trust in them and the opportunity, and their mentors for guiding them throughout their journey.

Kumar, who is a secondary school teacher by profession, said it was a challenging journey.

“It feels great to have accomplished this because I went through a lot of challenges and sacrifices in this journey as I had sleepless nights in order to complete my assignments.

“I want to give something back to my country by using the knowledge to further uplift the level of football in our country. I am looking forward to applying the knowledge in the teams I would be coaching,” Kumar mentioned.”

The former Labasa coach, also a teacher, is eager to assist the local coaches.

“I would like to share the knowledge that I have gained in this B Licence with other coaches and hopefully make a difference. Also to be part of the national development programs.

“It all depends on the opportunities that I will be given and I will use my achievement to the fullest,” Lal told Fiji FA media.
