Tuivuaka eyes Fijian Drua return

7s Olympic gold medalist Asaeli Tuivuaka is eying a return to the Fijian Drua squad  for next season's Super Rugby Pacific competition.

Tuivuaka, who has previously represented the Drua in 2017 and 2018 in the Australian National Rugby Championship told FijiLive it will be a dream come true to play in Super Rugby with the best New Zealand and Australian franchises.

The ‘Tank’ mentioned that fitness would be an issue for him, but he is determined to beat the obstacles and earn a spot in the team.

“I am trying my best to retain my Drua form because 7s form is different from Drua. Drua needs a lot of physicality because of the game's impact and the tough scenarios associated with it. I was part of the team four years ago and again I want to wear the same jersey for Fiji.”

“I feel that I will have to do a lot of hardwork in terms of building my fitness. I have to pull myself up to the level of a fifteens player. I have to work a lot on my defence and passing. Those are the two key things that I will have to improve a lot on.”

“The twist is that we will play weekly and unlike sevens where we play tournament based. So I will have to utilise my entire time and effort in focusing on my next goal. At the moment I have just returned but I am doing some minor training at home.”
