Uluinasau conversion seals win

A successful conversion by Reapi Uluinasau after the final hooter saw Fijiana escape with a 28-26 victory against Canada in their second match of the Dubai 7s today.

Fijiana started the match well and scored back to back tries through Uluinasau and Sesenieli Donu in the second and third minute to lead 14-0.

Olivia De Couvreur and Asia Hogan-Rochester's tries narrowed the gap to 14-12 before a good breakdown effort from the Fijians saw Aloesi Nakoci score their third try and a successful conversion by Uluinasau extended their lead by 21-12 at halftime.

Nakoci was sin-binned after the break and an extra player advantage saw the Canadians score two tries through Captain Breanne Nicholas and Elissa Alarie and lead 26-21.

The never-say-die attitude of the Fijiana players saw replacement Laisana Likuceva sprint away on the right flank to score the try which leveled up the match- and it was all left to Uluinasau to seal the win with her kick.

Fijiana now has two wins from two matches and will face Russia next at 3.05am (Fiji Time).
