Fiji beats France in Dubai 7s opener

Fiji kicked off its campaign in the Dubai 7s with a shaky 24-15 win over France today.

The young and inexperienced Fijians were tested early in the match and allowed the French to score before rover Filipe Sauturaga scored a brace of tries to give the side a 12-5 halftime lead.

Tries in the second half to Kaminieli Rasaku and Iowane Teba sealed the deal for Fiji, but France threatened with two tries in the final minute of the encounter.

Fiji will face Canada next at 10.52pm (Fiji Time) and Australia in its final Pool A match at 3.33am tomorrow.

Results so far: Fiji 24-15 France, Australia 35-19 Canada, Argentina 28-7 Spain, USA 14-7 Kenya, Great Britain 17-12 Japan, South Africa 28-7 Ireland.
