Tuwai out, Kunatani returns after 5 years

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Jerry Tuwai will miss the Toulouse and London 7s while Semi Kunatani will don the Fiji 7s jumper after five years.

Tuwai was not well which hindered his preparation in the beginning of the camp and he will be on standby and called up if there are any injuries in the team.

He will retain his assistant coaching role in the team.

"I want to support him have better preparation and as we build towards Commonwealth Games and World Cup. He does not need to prove his quality whilst we look at players," said Coach Ben Gollings.

Speaking about Kunatani's selection, Gollings said: “Semi is good for experience and has been working very hard to get this
opportunity. He is great around the players and provides good leadership."

2020 Olympic gold medalist Napolioni Bolaca has also made the cut and Gollings is confident the recently released Fijian Drua utility back will ajust in the team well.

Apart from Kunatani and Bolaca, Manueli Maisamoa and Filipe Sauturaga also make a return to the team after recovering from injuries while Iowane Teba, Iowane Raturaciri and Tira Patterson have been omitted.
