Fiji Bati prop Daniel Saifiti will be staging a strong battle against the Brisbane Broncos prop Payne Haas in round 11 of NRL tomorrow for a spot in the NSW Blues squad.
Both the players will be holding onto their number 10 jersey with the NSW incumbents looking to consolidate their positions in this years’ Blues squad for the State of Origin.
Saifiti has become a mainstay in the NSW Blues Origin side having played a role in series wins in 2019 and last year and chasing the same success this year.
Nothingbutleague.com reports that Saifiti will lead the way with his damaging go-forward and power running skills.
Consistently one of the best forwards in the NRL, it was no surprise that Haas brought home the Dally M Prop of the Year award in 2021, while picking up 4 awards at the Broncos’ presentation night, including his third-straight Paul Morgan Player of the Year Medal.
In 2021, Haas racked up 1485.1 post contact metres, 68 tackle breaks, a 97.5 percent tackle efficiency and an average of 168 running metres per game.
Haas has already represented New South Wales in the State of Origin 7 times, and Australia twice on the international stage..
The Knights will play the Broncos at 9.50pm at the McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.
