Nippy playmaker and Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Ratu Napolioni Bolaca will re-join the Fiji 7s team for the upcoming HSBC 7s tournaments this year.
The Fiji Rugby Union and Fijian Drua ended Bolaca’s secondment with the Super Rugby Pacific franchise.
Fijian Drua chief executive Brian Thorburn said the decision was made in the best interest of all parties, and at the request of Fiji 7s Head Coach Ben Gollings.
"It allows Bolaca to return to enjoying rugby in a familiar environment, and where he has had massive success."
Fiji Rugby chief executive John O’Connor thanked Fijian Drua for taking Bolaca through the rigours of Super Rugby, and he’ll be better for it.
"He will now return to fight for a place in the national 7s squads for the rest of the World Rugby 7s series, the upcoming Rugby World Cup and the Commonwealth Games assignments."
"I use the word 'fight' because there will be intense competition for spots in our 7s team. All the new players this season won’t easily give up their hard-earned positions."
