Fijiana Drua need to be celebrtated: Bala

Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and Youth and Sports Praveen Bala said the returned Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua team will be celebrated for their historic performance in the Super W competition in Lautoka.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Bala highlighted the many successes the Fijiana rugby teams have accomplished and that it had gone unnoticed.

“We will continue to ensure that the women’s teams are given all the glory that they deserve,” Bala said.

“Along with the great effort by the Fijiana Womens 7s team for a Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medal, the Fijiana is now a world force to be reckoned with,”Bala said.

“The Fijiana Drua Women’s Side created sporting history with their win in the Super Rugby Women’s Competition by beating the four-time champions.”

Bala added a part from their initial welcome into the country and respective celebrations with their families, more celebrations were in store.

“Programmes have been planned which will coincide with the upcoming match for the Fijian Drua men’s side in Lautoka.”
