Undefeated Rewa football side is working on their fitness as they are preparing for tough physical tests at the upcoming Digicel Fiji FACT tournament.
The delta tigers are second in the Digicel Premier League with 6 wins, and 3 draws and Coach Marika Rodu says the results have been disappointing but the side has started to rectify their mistakes.
"We have come across the first round of the league games. We have seen our strengths and identified our weaknesses. Every week we are working on our weaknesses to make sure that we don't get caught in the future games."
"Unfortunately, we are in second position and it's a very dangerous position. It's disappointing at the same time as other teams are catching us up. We have to put up better performance in Fiji FACT and make sure that we get the results we want."
"Being second also gives us good encouragement and motivation to play at the tournament. A lot of things were learnt from the first round and the team is earasing the mistakes given that we just have two weeks left for the tournament."
Rodu said fitness will play a big role in the tournament as he is expecting physical games from the opponents.
"Physically it will be demanding for the players so we will have to manage our training and players accordingly so we don't overuse our players over the two-three weekends."
"We have planned out how we will train and also try to look after ourselves in recovery."
"Some friendly matches in the two weeks will also help to shift the boys around and see what other positions their strength lies and other positions they can play at."
"Fitness was one of the areas we saw in league that affected some of our winning games yet we managed to get a draw but that’s something we really have to work on before the tournament starts," he added.
Rewa last won the Fiji FACT tournament in 2018 defeating Labasa by 5-3 in penalty.
