Fiji beaten in Oceania 7s opener

Fiji suffered a 29-19 loss to Australia Selection in its opening match of the 2022 Oceania 7s in Auckland this morning.

The Ben Gollings coached side made a good start and forward Jeremaia Matana scored a brace of tries and playmaker Waisea Nacuqu got one as they led 19-7 at the break.

The Australia Selection scored four unanswered tries in the second half to record the upset victory.

Fiji plays Tonga in its next match at 5pm.

Meanwhile, host New Zealand beat Tonga 38-0 in the first match of the tournament.
