Georgia joins Fiji's WCup pool

Georgia joins Pool C of next year's Rugby World Cup in France and has been grouped with Australia, Fiji and Wales.

Georgia secured their place after all remaining games involving Russia in the Rugby Europe Championship 2022 were abandoned following a decision by the Rugby World Cup Board on Wednesday.

Georgia are the 15th team to qualify for Rugby World Cup 2023, following in the footsteps of Samoa and Uruguay who secured their places via the regional qualification process in 2021.

A fifth team from the final qualifier winner will complete the full compliment in Pool C.

Four teams from across Africa, Asia/Pacific, the Americas and Europe will contest the Final Qualification Tournament which will be decided in November 2022.

Fiji beat Georgia 45-10 in their last meeting at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
