Memorable Blues debut for Koroisau

Vodafone Fiji Bati and New South Wales Blues hooker Apisai Koroisau’s first start in the State of Origin was a memorable one as they hammered Queensland Maroons 44-12 in Perth on Sunday night.

The Saunaka village warrior linked up with his Penrith Panthers core to square up the series in a dominant fashion with the decider next month in Brisbane.

Koroisau said the insertion of control by team mate and man of the match Nathan Cleary was the tell-tale difference.

“The ruck was a lot quicker for him tonight, it created a lot more space and our forwards got on line a bit better,” Koroisau told nrl.com after the match.

“Queensland are an incredible side, they fought right to the end but big ups to the boys for showing up.”

For the moment, Koroisau said he would cherish the win.

“It was incredible and hard to put in words.”

Koroisau also added a stalwart performance with 13 metres run, 46 receipts, three post contact metres, 23 tackles made with a 95.8 percent efficiency in 34 minutes of game time.

The final game of the series will be held at Suncorp Stadium on July 13 at 10.10pm.
