Piutau anticipates physical Fiji clash

Tonga and Bristol Bears centre Charles Piutau is expecting a physical encounter when they take on the Vodafone Flying Fijians in their Pacific Nations Cup opener in Suva on Saturday.

The former All Black is expected to make his debut for the Ikale Tahi in the big clash.

“Fiji has a great forward pack and a lot of power and speed in the backlines and that is something we have to study, and hopefully we can get the stuff done,” Piutau told FijiLive.

For Piutau, the PNC is a benchmark as they progress to secure a spot at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

"The coaches are looking at the bigger picture, for us at players, we will focus at this first PNC, and hopefully that builds the momentum to the world cup.

The Flying Fijians vs Tonga fixture kicks off at the HFC Bank Stadium at 3.30pm.
