Seci ready to give his all

A late injury ruled out Fijian centre Pio Seci at the 2017 Rugby World Cup, and with a second call-up, he is ready to go all the way.

The Lauan enforcer from Waiqori Village in Oneata returned from his club Sporting Olympique Avignon in France to join the Vodafone Fiji Bati team for next week’s Melanesian Cup test against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls in Australia.

“I am very honoured to be called up again to represent Fiji, especially with the world cup around the corner,” Seci told FijiLive.

“I was the lone local that went to the world cup in 2017, and unluckily I was injured late ahead of the tournament and could not play.”

Seci was amazed at his journey and how far he had come, now returning to the Fiji Bati camp as a professional player.

“It hasn’t been easy, but hard work always pays off.”

Seci flies out of the country to join team mates in Australia with USP Raiders player Marika Turagaiviu and Mesake Kurikitoga of the Nadera Panthers, with the eager to share his with the greenhorns.

“I remember going over as a local, and learning from the more experienced National Rugby League players.

“I’m also going to share what I know with the local players that are going because I have worn those shoes.”

The trio flies out tomorrow with the bulk of the Bati management to follow on Monday.

The Bati and the Kumuls will clash at Campbelltown Stadium in Sydney next week Saturday June 25
